Friends of Calvert County Seniors Inc. (FCCS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for low-income seniors. It sponsors a small grant program that helps pay for items where assistance is not available. FCCS is seeking board members. Intergenerational Camp returns

Enjoy a week of activities with your elementary-age grandchild(ren). You can select two classes each day. A brochure with class selections is available at all three senior centers. Fee is $35 per grandparent/grandchild pair, $15 each additional person. Fee includes all supplies and one DVD. This camp is very popular and fills up fast. Fill out your medical family tree at 1 p.m. Monday, June 6. Know what medical conditions run in your family to be better prepared to make decisions about your health.

Dating is not what it used to be. For men older than 50, divorced or widowed, learn ways to expand your social circle at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9. Preregister by June 2.

The Senior Council will host a basket bingo at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11. Doors open at 2 p.m. Fee is $20.

Learn basic crochet techniques at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 9. All supplies are included.

Come to the queen's Mad Hatter Luncheon at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 10, a zany, fun-filled time where everything is not what it appears. Preregister by June 3.

News from Southern Pines Senior Center

Learn about the prevention and treatment of skin cancer at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 7. Dr. Faris Hawit will discuss the dangers of skin cancer, followed by skin cancer screenings.

A new club is forming, starting June 8, to make crafts to sell in the Senior Council Gift Shop. Each Wednesday at 10 a.m., participants will work on a craft of their choice using donated materials.

Senior trips

Enjoy "Oklahoma!" at Arena Stage on Friday, July 29. The $90 fee includes bus, box meal and show.

Take a luncheon cruise up the Potomac aboard the Dandy on Wednesday, Aug. 10. The $70 fee includes bus, cruise and gourmet lunch. Enjoy dining and a view of our nation's monuments.
