The horse was a Christmas gift for the Kriemelmeyers and will be installed in their honor on the new carousel to be built at Laurel Springs Regional Park on Radio Station Road in La Plata.
They also received an adoption certificate and letter granting their family the first rides on their horse at the grand opening of the carousel.
The Southern Maryland Carousel Group currently has 10 horses, a rooster and pony under various stages of construction. The group will start this month to build six more animals and two chariots.
According to Robert Boyce, the group’s president, spaces are limited for the animals, and they are going fast.
To adopt an animal or other item for the carousel, which is scheduled to open in 2008, call Boyce at 301-392-9620 or Burkey Boggs at 301-934-1366 or go to somdcarousel.com.
