Charles County government offices and the Tri-County Animal Shelter will be closed Jan. 18 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The county landfill, recycling center and composting facility in Waldorf and the Pisgah recycling center will not open. Curbside recycling services will not be affected.

La Plata Town Hall will be closed Jan. 18 in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Trash normally picked up on Monday will be picked up Tuesday, Jan. 18. Call 301-934-8421.

Maryland MVA will close its offices and vehicle emissions inspection stations Jan. 18. Online registrations renewals and other eMVA options are available at www.marylandmva.com.

Tuesday, Jan. 19
