Lewis Stephen Montgomery, 88, of Lusby died Jan. 27, 2010, at Calvert Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 1, 1921, in Bryantown.
He married Mary Alberta Greenwell on Jan. 26, 1940, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mechanicsville. He graduated from Gonzaga High School in Washington, D.C., and served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 6th Calvary Division from Nov. 20, 1945, to Sept. 18, 1953, when he was honorably discharged. He went on to work as an electrician until his retirement.
In addition to his wife of 70 years, Lewis is survived by his children, Barbara Jones and spouse, Paul, of Hedgesville, W.Va., Linda Dyer and spouse, Bill, of Lusby, Carolyn Magill of Hughesville, June M. Groft of Riva and Dwight Montgomery and spouse, Linda, of Waldorf; his siblings, Virginia, Ellen, Ruth, Thelma, Lucille, Ann, Imogene and John; 15 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Jan. 31 at Rausch Funeral Home in Lusby, where funeral services were held Feb. 1. The Rev. Carl Snyder officiated. Interment followed at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church cemetery in Hollywood. Pallbearers were Bill Dyer, Bruce Dyer, Michael Dyer, Sean Gray, Alan Gray, Rick Magill, Billy Montgomery and Nicholas Dyer.
