Margaret Ashe Hankla, 79, Piney Point

Margaret "Peggy" Ashe Hankla, 79, of Piney Point died Jan. 30, 2010, at Suburban Hospital.

Born Nov. 9, 1930, in Memphis, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Thomas J. and Martha Rogers Ashe.

She had lived in St. Mary's County for the last 20 years. She loved to play bridge.

She is survived her children, Barbara A. Golladay of Piney Point and Daniel A. Hammett of Pasadena; her siblings, Patricia McEntee of Piney Point and Thomas Ashe of Buckland, Va.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Hankla; and son, Brent Hammett.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Feb. 4, from 10 to 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Ridge, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Lee Fangmeyer officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Executive Plaza III, #100, 11350 McCormick Road, Hunt Valley, MD 21031.

Arrangements are being handled by Brinsfield Funeral Home in Leonardtown.
