Charles County public schools announced this afternoon that schools will be canceled Wednesday due to inclement weather.

School officials reported that employees who follow the code system should monitor the schools 24-hour information hot line at 301-932-6656 and that code status for tomorrow would be determined by 8 tonight.

Wednesday's school closure is the fifth snow day of the school year. The school calendar has four built-in snow days.

Ronald G. Cunningham, deputy superintendent of Charles County Public Schools, announced today that once the four days are used, any additional emergency closings would be deducted from spring break which is scheduled for March 29 through April 1.

Cunningham said additional information on emergency closings can be found on page 10 of the school calendar.
