(News update) Two men shot in drive-by shooting

One man was shot in the head and another in the hand as they were driving in a vehicle around 2:30 a.m. this morning on Bowie Trail Road in the Chesapeake Ranch Estates in Lusby, according to police.

"Initially, this looks like it's gang related," said Lt. Steve Jones of the Calvert Investigative Team.

A small caliber weapon was used, and Jones said he heard that the shot that hit the man's head did not go through his brain. He was airlifted to the Prince George's Shock Trauma.

"It looks like he's stable, from what I'm hearing," Jones said.

The second man, who was shot in the hand, was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital.

"We have three suspects in custody now," Jones said and the investigation is ongoing.

There was no indication that the two men who were shot returned fire, he said.
