Athlete of the year
Tyler Ostrowski
Chopticon senior
Resume: Ostrowski proceeded to dominate the indoor arena after coming off a record-breaking cross country season; he managed to deal well with the snowfall and lack of practice time by placing first at SMAC in the 3,200-meter run with a time of 10 minutes 1.02 seconds and the senior placed third at state in the same event, dropping time (9:56.29), after a fourth-place showing at the Class 3A East region meet. Ostrowski placed second at SMAC in the 1,600 (4:43.39) and sixth at regions (4:49.04)

Resume: Corcoran took over the Braves team and has earned the respect of his team immediately and coached the boys to a fifth-place, first in county, SMAC finish with 48 points. The Braves followed with a 12th-place showing at the 3A East region meet and they placed 23rd overall at states.

Resume: Gass rounds out her senior year on top, representing the Raiders at SMAC on Jan. 23 by winning three events leading Leonardtown to second-place finish, first in county, overall with 109 points. She finished the 800 in 2:28.12, the 1,600 run (5:27.25) and coasted through the 3,200 (11:57.28); dropped time at the 4A state meet, finishing the 1,600 in 5:16.69 and the 3,200 in 11:57.10, placing fourth

Leonardtown (13th season)
Resume: Snyder has been the constant reliable coach for the Raiders that led them to a second place at SMAC, 13 points behind champion North Point. The Raiders were not able to compete in the 4A East regional due to afterschool activities being canceled the day of the actual race on Feb. 2 but did race alongside 4A Central participants in order to qualify athletes for the state meet. Leonardtown did come back for states and was the highest county placement with 10 points to tie for 16th
