(News update) Suspicious man seen at bus stops

St. Mary's school officials and law enforcement have asked residents near Asher Road in Mechanicsville to look out for any suspicious activity after a vehicle was seen Thursday morning approaching students at bus stops in the vicinity, according to a statement from St. Mary's public schools.

A middle-aged white male was driving the vehicle, which was described as a teal blue older model vehicle. No students were harmed and there is no identified motive for the incident. Schools and bus drivers transporting students in this area have been notified and school officials said they were working closely with the law enforcement officials as they continue to investigate this incident.

School officials asked residents to assist in assuring that all precautionary measures are taken to ensure the safety of students, especially in the vicinity of Asher Road. If a person observes anyone acting in a suspicious manner in the area of Asher Road or has any information about this at 301-475-8955.
