A man who allegedly resisted arrest when police served him a warrant now faces charges in both district and circuit courts in Calvert.
Delonta D. Dandridge, 23, of Sunderland was indicted on Feb. 22 for first- and second-degree assault, armed robbery, attempted theft less than $100 and theft less than $100 for a Dec. 4, 2009, incident in which he allegedly approached two men who were in a vehicle at the Sunderland Wine and Spirits and demanded money, pushing an "unidentified weapon" to one of the men's stomachs, judicial records state.
When police tried to serve an arrest warrant on him on Jan. 15 for the incident, Dandridge allegedly fled into a trailer on Kent Road in Sunderland. After police asked Dandridge several times to exit the trailer, he finally came out and, "a violent struggle ensued" with a police officer and a police canine, charging documents state. Dandridge allegedly resisted arrest, striking other officers and the dog, and he was eventually taken into custody. Dandridge, who was injured during the scuffle, was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital for treatment. Keloh, the police dog, suffered small lacerations to his chin and on the inside of his mouth, according to charging documents. As a result of the Jan. 15 incident, Dandridge was also charged in the district court for four counts of second-degree assault, according to judicial records.
Dandridge, who is currently being held at the Calvert County Detention Center, is scheduled for a status hearing on March 22 in the circuit court.
