Concerts
Bluegrass Gospel Express — The Christian bluegrass band will perform at 7 p.m. March 12 in New Song Coffee House at Leonardtown Church of the Nazarene, on the square. The group has been "pickin' and singin' for the Lord" for 18 years, a press release states. The event is free. Refreshments will be served.
Two concerts by Brian Ganz — St. Mary's College's pianist Brian Ganz will perform a recital, with works by Chopin and Beethoven, at noon March 12 in Auerbach Auditorium at St. Mary's College. The concert is free, and the college is in St. Mary's City. Ganz will then perform at 3 p.m. March 14 for the Ward Virts Concert Series at the College of Southern Maryland, 115 J.W. Williams Road, Prince Frederick. The event is free but reserving tickets is recommended. Call 443-550-6000.
Bluegrass and spaghetti — Rescheduled from January, Jay Armsworthy & Eastern Tradition will perform from 5:30-9 p.m. March 13 at Nanjemoy Community Center, 4375 Port Tobacco Road. Doors will open at 5 p.m., and dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. Fee is $15 in advance, $20 at the door for Charles County residents and $20 and $25 for nonresidents. Call 301-246-9612.
St. Patrick's Day dance — Immaculate Conception Catholic Church will host a St. Patrick's Day dance from 7-11 p.m. March 13. Fee is $20. There will be food for sale, a raffle, prizes, cakewalks, dance demonstrations and music by Mean Gene. The event is BYOB. Call 301-884-5095 or 301-884-3123.
Celebrate The Carpenters — Jennifer Cooper will perform songs by the group at 8 p.m. March 13 in the fine arts center at the College of Southern Maryland, 8730 Mitchell Road, La Plata. Tickets are $5. Call 301-934-7828

Auditions — The Port Tobacco Players will have auditions for "The Producers" at 9 a.m. March 13, 7 p.m. March 15 and 7 p.m. March 16. The group is looking for actors older than 16. Don't go green — Maryland environmental activist Mike Tidwell believes the "Go Green" movement is hurting effort to fight global warming. He thinks what America really needs is legislation that rapidly phases out the use of fossil fuels. Corned beef and cabbage dinner — Waters Memorial United Methodist Church will hosts its annual ham, corned beef and cabbage dinner from 4-7 p.m. March 13. Book sale at the fairgrounds — The annual Friends of the Library Book Sale will be held March 12-14 at St. Mary's County Fairgrounds, 42455 Fairgrounds Road, Leonardtown. Fishing Fair — The 17th annual event, which features more than 80 vendors, will be held from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. March 27 and 28 at Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department, 13150 H.G. Trueman Road, Solomons. Fee is $2.
