Happy 375th birthday, Maryland!
The North End Gallery celebrates Maryland's 375th anniversary with an invitational exhibition co-sponsored by the St. Mary's County Arts Council called "Maryland, My Maryland" which runs through March 29. The gallery is located at 41652 Fenwick St. just off the square in downtown Leonardtown. Hours are Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Sundays from noon to 4 p.m. For more information call 301-475-3130 or visit northendgallery.org.
The Newtowne Players will be presenting A.R. Gurney's two-act play, "Sylvia," through Sunday, April 5. Thursday, Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7 p.m.; Sunday matinees begin at 3:30 p.m.
The storyline involves Gray and Kate, who have just moved to Manhattan after 22 years of child-raising in the suburbs. Greg brings home a dog named Sylvia that he's found in the park. Sylvia then becomes a major bone of contention between husband and wife.
For more information call 301-737-5447 or visit www.newtowneplayers.org.
Mother Catherine Spalding School will hold a spring craft fair and home vendor show on Saturday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a perfect opportunity to find your gifts for Easter and for Mother's Day. The school is located on Route 238 in Helen. You may call 301-884-3165 for more information. (Many thanks to Betsy Farrell for submitting this news item).

The evening includes dinner and a live auction of culinary items.
