On March 6, in Baltimore, Tap's Community Brotherhood held a gala to remember our friend and brother, Joseph Patrick "Pat" Kepferle.
Pat Kepferle, a 1999 graduate of Great Mills High, passed away from bacterial meningitis while a freshman at Towson University 10 years ago on March 5, 2000.
TCB was founded in memory of Pat in April 2006, and continues to promote the memory and spirit of Pat by encouraging participation in youth activities and community volunteerism.
With close to 150 friends and family in attendance from across the country, our celebration of Patrick was a fun and touching reminder of the spirit of brotherhood that TCB strives to bring to our Southern Maryland community every day.
The gala, while bringing people together to remember Patrick, also kicked off 2010 as yet another exciting year of community events for TCB. TCB will hold its fourth annual May Madness 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament on Saturday, May 8, at St. Mary's College of Maryland. Last year's event was such an enormous success that we had to turn teams away for the first time.
This year, registration will be done online and via e-mail only, and will be open from April 1 to April 30, or until all team spots are filled.
We expect just as much enthusiasm this year for the tournament, so if you are interested in playing, be ready to register as soon as it opens to ensure a spot for your team. As always, we will be holding our popular three-point shootout and slam dunk contests, which will be open to anyone who wants to participate. This year we will be holding preliminary three-point shootouts to determine who will compete in the final contest during our halftime show.
We are always in need of volunteers for all of our events, so if you are interested in volunteering please e-mail us at events@thetcb.org. For more information about May Madness and Tap's Community Brotherhood please visit www.thetcb.org.
