Charles County Elite track club wins gold

17 athletes compete, 13 win medals at national indoor championships

The relay team of Naim Muhammad and Myles Ingram, bottom, and Anthony Haythe, Jr. and Marcellus Taylor, bottom, won gold at the 2010 AAU Northern Indoor Track and Field National Championships in Bloomington, Ill.

The Charles County Elite Track and Field Club competed in the 2010 AAU Northern National Indoor Track and Field Championships Feb. 19-21 at Illinois-Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill.

The 9- to 10-year-old boys bantam 1,600-meter relay team, comprised of Myles Ingram, Marcellus Taylor, Anthony Haythe Jr. and Naim Muhammad won the gold with a time of 5 minutes 15.32 seconds. 

A total of 17 Elite athletes competed and 13 medals were won. 

In the primary girls division, Sanai Haythe earned medals in the 55 (10.19 seconds, third), 200 (42.97, sixth) and 400 (a personal record 1:34.76, eighth).

In the submidget girls division, Mya Harding placed 11th overall in the 55 with a time of 9.13.

In the midget girls division, Destinee Butts was ninth overall in the 800 (3:17.51), 15th overall in the 400 (1:25.25) and 17th overall in the 200 (37.04).

In the youth girls division, Faith Rorie placed 15th overall in the 400 (1:12.07), 16th overall in the 55 (8.61) and 18th overall in the 200 (30.61).

In the primary boys division, Haythe earned a medal in the 55, placing eighth overall (9.70) and he placed eighth overall in the 200 (36.06).

Dominic Jordan earned a medal in the 400, placing eighth overall (1:37.72). He placed 13th overall in the 200 (39.71), setting a personal record, and 17th overall in the 55 (10.86).

Joshua Randolph placed ninth overall in the 400 (1:38.28), 12th overall in the 55 (9.98), setting a personal record, and 14th overall in the 200 (40.46).

In the subbantam boys division, Taylor placed 12th overall in the 55 (9.30) and ninth overall in the 200 (34.07).

In the bantam boys division, Muhammad earned a medal in a 55, placing seventh overall (8.69) and earned a medal in the 200, placing eighth overall (32.01). Ingram earned a medal in the 55, placing fifth overall (8.51) and eighth overall in the 200 (32.11).

In the submidget boys division, Justin Green earned a medal in the 55, placing sixth overall (8.11). He also placed eighth overall in the 200 (30.57).

In the midget boys division, Keith Sherald Jr. earned a medal in the 55, placing fifth overall (7.99). He placed eighth overall in the 200 (29.09).

Da'Kwan Moody placed 16th overall in the 55 (8.50) and 19th overall in the 200 (32.22).

Nadir Muhammad placed 14th overall in the 400 (1:18.80) and 23rd overall in the 200 (33.98).

The 11-12 midget boys 1,600 relay team of Green, Nadir Muhammad, Moody and Sherald placed fifth overall with a time of 5:05.17.

In the youth boys division, Kharee Carr placed 11th overall in the 400 (1:05.27), 13th overall in the 55 (7.74) and 16th overall in the 200 (30.64).

In the young boys division, Kevin Murphy Jr. placed 28th overall in the 55 (7.20), setting a personal record, 37th overall in the 400 (56.73) and 38th overall in the 200 (25.53).
