Police on Friday arrested a fugitive charged with negligent homicide and driving under the influence before a fatal Waldorf car accident.

Members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office warrant squad and the U.S. Marshal's fugitive task force found Frank Richard Jones in the 100 block of Tadpole Lane in Maysville, N.C., and took him into custody without incident, according to Diane Richardson, sheriff's office spokeswoman.

Jones, 30, of Emerald Isle, N.C., was the driver in a Dec. 11 car accident that killed Christopher James Wright, a Newburg volunteer firefighter.

The two men were traveling east in a Toyota Scion on Bryantown Road when Jones lost control of the car and struck a utility pole and a tree, according to a police report.

Wright, 26, of La Plata was thrown from the car and died on the scene of the accident, police reported.

Jones was taken to Prince George's Hospital Center and treated for injuries that weren't life-threatening.

Last month, Jones was indicted by a Charles County Circuit Court grand jury on charges of negligent manslaughter, negligent homicide under the influence per se, negligent homicide under the influence, negligent homicide while impaired, driving while under the influence and driving while impaired, according to online court records.

Jones is being held at the Onlsow County, N.C., jail and is awaiting extradition, Richardson said.

A woman answered the phone at the address listed in Jones's court documents, but she hung up before commenting.

Wright's sister, Kara Vermillion, said that the family doesn't want to comment on the charges or on Jones's arrest.

Wright's father, Ronnie Wright, also declined to comment for the record.

"[Wright] was a very loving son, brother and uncle, and we're all gonna miss him," Vermillion said after the accident.

According to his family, Wright worked at Gary Best Kustumz, an auto repair shop in Waldorf.

He also served with the Newburg Volunteer Fire Department, of which his father was a founding member.

"The family appreciates all the support we've received from the Newburg Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department and from the other fire departments in the county," Ronnie Wright said.
