A single-vehicle accident on Route 4 near White Sands around 6 p.m. where one victim was flown out last Friday backed up traffic heading south for more than an hour.
Two people were ejected from the vehicle after it lost control and went off the road, said Lt. Randy Stephens, commander of the Maryland State Police Prince Frederick Barrack.
"It rolled at least twice," Stephens said.
One woman was flown to the hospital, "but she's in stable condition," Stephens said late Tuesday.
Police marked the scene of the accident on Route 4 to investigate backing up traffic for about an hour, he said. Because it was not a fatal accident, police did not send out a press release on the accident, Stephens said.
According to the release, Nikia C. Wallace, 22, of Hyattsville, the driver of a Chevrolet Blazer heading south on Route 4 near White Sands Drive, lost control of her vehicle and it overturned several times in the roadway. Wallace was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Passenger Sharday N. Redmond, 22, of District Heights, was flown to Prince George's Shock Trauma and currently is in stable condition. Passenger Charlton L. Jackson, 22, of Huntingtown was transported to Calvert Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
