Michael Lewis, 13, confronts Demetrius Clyburn, 13, as he works his way to the basket in St. Mary's College of Maryland's gymnasium Saturday during May Madness, the third annual 3-on-3 basketball tournament hosted by Tap's Community Brotherhood. The nonprofit was established by the family and friends of Pat Kepferle, a 1999 Great Mills High graduate who died of meningitis as a college freshman. The winning teams from among the 47 entrants in Saturday's tournament were The Dunking Crew, middle school division; The Braves, grades 9/10 division; St. Mary's Finest, grades 11/12 division; The Procrastinators, adult men division; and Triple Threat + Kelly, co-ed division. The Dunking Crew team won scholarships to attend St. Mary's men's basketball Coach Chris Harney's camp this summer. There were health information booths set up in the college's athletic recreation center to learn about adolescent immunizations for meningitis and other health topics.
