Mr. Wilson was well-known for his candy-making efforts for the Festival of the Trees held by Hospice of Charles County. Since his retirement from Trans World Airlines, candy making was his favorite pastime, and he was proud to be able to donate substantial amounts of money to hospice.
Mr. Wilson loved spending time with his family, especially watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and serving his homemade angel food cake.
Born Nov. 13, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of the late John and the late Ethel Wilson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant son, John; sisters, Laverne Swoager and Alice Bray; and brother, Jack Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Sheffler Wilson; daughter, Amy DiSabatino; son-in-law, Santy DiSabatino; grandchildren, Derek James DiSabatino, Kaley Renee DiSabatino and Beth Addington and her husband, Todd; brother, Glenn L. Wilson, and his wife, Jean, of Beaver Falls, Pa.; sister-in-law, Frances Sheffler; brothers-in-law, Robert Sheffler and his wife, Katie, and Gary Sheffler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. May 15 at Raymond Funeral Service, La Plata. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. May 16 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, La Plata. Burial will take place at Maryland Veterans Cemetery, Cheltenham.
