An employee at a pizza restaurant was reportedly robbed at gunpoint last Thursday night and police have arrested two suspects in the case.
When an employee at Domino's Pizza on Church Street in Prince Frederick was pushing a trash dumpster to the alley behind the Prince Frederick Shopping Center around 10:30 p.m. on May 14, he was approached by a black male who was pointing a gun yelling, "Get on the ground, give me your money," according to Calvert County Sheriff's Office press release. The employee said he did as he was told and an undetermined amount of money was taken from him. The robber then got into the passenger side of a vehicle and fled the scene toward Duke Street. No one was injured during the robbery.
A witness saw a small, red vehicle fleeing the scene and a vehicle matching the description was seen parked in front of a home on Harriet Tubman Drive in Prince Frederick, the press release stated.
"Based on surveillance documentation" investigators were able to identify the suspects, said Det. Sgt. Mike Moore.
The investigation by members of the Criminal Investigative Team resulted in the arrest of two men, Stephen James Covington, 23, of Temple Hills and Marcus Dwayne Spencer, 26, of St. Leonard.
The suspects were arrested at their home without incident, Moore said.
Both men were taken before a District Court Commissioner where they were each charged with armed robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree assault and held on $100,000 bond, according to the press release.
