Earth Day was happy despite bad weather
Friday, May 30, 2008
We would like to thank all those involved in the eighth annual Earth Day Celebration on the Square in historic Leonardtown on Sunday, April 20. Unfortunately, the weather did not cooperate with us, but the good feeling of Earth Day surrounded us anyway. Those brave enough to chance getting rained on saw some wonderful exhibits before we had to cancel the event due to thunder and lightning. Numerous environmental and community organizations were on hand to provide useful information helping us understand the importance of taking care of the Earth and demonstrating how our daily actions impact the planet.
For all their help and support, we would like to thank the Accokeek Foundation; AmeriCorps VISTA; Animal Relief Fund; Bob Augustine; Art in Wire; Dr. Thomas Baldwin; Jesse Bauer; Baywise and Master Gardeners; Ernie Bell; Blue Sky Puppet Theatre; Joe Bucior; Dan Burris; Bushwood Mill Band; Cafe de Artistes; Catfish Joe; Celtic Society of Southern Maryland; Center for Life Enrichment; Chesapeake Bay Field Lab Inc.; Chesapeake Spinners and Weavers; Clearwater Nature Center’s Live Birds of Prey; Community Mediation Center of St. Mary’s; Colleen’s Dream; Corner Critters; County Seat; Country Style Crafts; Cove Point Natural Heritage Trust; Craft Guild of St. Mary’s County; Crazy for Ewe; Darby’s Handcrafts, W.M.
