Through investigation, the police learned that Ricky Salvatore allegedly shot his brother several times in the chest and neck with a rifle while Chris Salvatore was sitting in a folding chair outside of the residence watching television, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, police reports state.
Ricky Salvatore, who was at the home with his wife when police arrived, was arrested without incident, and the motive behind the shooting is still not clear and under investigation, said 1st Sgt. Michael Moore of the Calvert Investigation Team.
A neighbor called 911 around 5:40 p.m. on Sunday, June 1, and said shots had been fired, and Ricky Salvatore’s wife was at the scene, but Moore said the police were told she was not a witness to the shooting.
A search warrant executed at the home revealed a rifle that was confiscated as evidence by the sheriff’s office, Moore said.
Salvatore is being held at the Calvert County Detention Center without bond, charged with first degree murder, second degree murder and first degree assault, according to the police report.
Salvatore will have a bond hearing in the next few days, Moore said.
