The event benefits Calvert Hospice, Hospice of St. Mary’s, the Southern Maryland Sailing Foundation and Prince Frederick Rotary Scholarship Fund. African-American heritage

African-American Heritage Day will be held from noon-6 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Accokeek Foundation, 3400 Bryan Point Road, Accokeek. Get caught in rush hour

The community event Living Hope Rush Hour will be held from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Aug. 23 at Chancellor’s Run Regional Park. The event includes a car show and basketball tournament. Local music acts include choirs and solo artists as well as gospel rap and go-go. The children’s area has a moon slide and face painting. The park is at 21905 Chancellor’s Run Road, Great Mills.
