Dirt bike crash kills La Plata teen

A La Plata teen died Thursday from injuries he suffered when the dirt bike he was riding struck a car parked in his neighbor's yard, the Charles County Sheriff's Office reported.

The crash, which happened at about 3:30 p.m. Aug. 29 in the 6000 block of Hannon Drive in La Plata, threw Nicholas Alan Sinsel, 17, from the dirt bike.

Sinsel, who wasn't wearing a helmet, lost consciousness and was flown to an area hospital, where he later died, according to police.

The crash is still under investigation.
