Guitars taken in Bryantown break-in

Musical equipment and several guitars were stolen in a Bryantown burglary that happened between Aug. 19 and 30.

Sheriff's officers went to the 6700 block of Leonardtown Road at 10:46 a.m. Aug. 30 after someone reported the burglary.

While the victim was out of town, someone had kicked in the front door of the home and stolen the instruments.

Officer M. Hancock is investigating.

Wheels swiped from Waldorf vehicles

Wheels and tires were stripped off of two vehicles in Waldorf between 1 and 7:30 a.m. Aug. 30.

The vehicles, one in the 3600 block of Yorktown Road and the other in the 3400 block of Williamsburg Drive, were both left on cinder blocks.

Officer D. Major is investigating.

Man assaults officer, police say

A La Plata man was charged with assault after allegedly trying to hit a sheriff's officer who was trying to break up a fight Aug. 30, according to a police report.

At about 12:21 a.m., sheriff's officers went to the 1000 block of Savanna Drive in La Plata when they heard about a large fight.

The police didn't see a fight, but shortly after, one of the officers saw an intoxicated man struggling with several people who were trying to drive him home, the report stated. The man, Dwain Patrick Hawkins Jr., 21, of La Plata, tried to hit the officer who intervened in the struggle, according to police. Hawkins was arrested and charged with assault and disorderly conduct.

Officer M. DePaulo made the arrest.

Air conditioner stolen during burglary

Someone broke into a vacant rental home in Newburg between Aug. 21 and 29 and stole an air conditioner.

Sheriff's officers went to the home in the 6700 block of Budds Creek Road after someone reported the burglary. The homeowner said that a power washer and paint sprayer had been stolen in July.

Officer M. Hancock is investigating.
