The president and owner of B.K. Miller Inc., David Miller, awarded a $500 check to the Judy Centers of Charles County, based on the suggestion of local resident Kelvin ‘‘Boo” Young. From left are Nathan Miller, Karen D’Alessandro, Theresa Osborne, Young, Miller and Dennis Hillian. The money will be used to provide books to needy children, fund educational field trips or host free parent workshops. The centers are funded by the Judith P. Hoyer Early Child Care and Education Center grant. Community involvement and awareness, such as B.K. Miller’s donation, is what helps the centers provide help to parents so they can send their children fully prepared to enter school, center officials said.
