Man with pipe threatens Waldorf pair
A man threatened his estranged wife and another person with a pipe and then smashed out the windows of the victim's car Sept. 14 in Waldorf.
The woman had gone to the 2400 block of Hanover Court to pick up her child, and her car windows were smashed at about 11:50 p.m. as she was driving away, police reported.
The man ran away before police arrived, but officers found him a short distance away.
The man pushed sheriff's officers and tried to flee, but he was apprehended and charged with first-degree assault and resisting arrest.
Police didn't release his name to protect the identity of the victim and her child.

Strolling suspect, hidden weapons
Police on Sept. 13 discovered that a Newburg man was carrying two knives, one in his pocket and the other in his sock, according to a report.
At about 11:45 a.m., sheriff's officers saw Charles Augustine Thomas, 50, who had an open warrant for theft, near the 600 block of Charles Street in La Plata. Thomas was arrested on the warrant and was also charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon.
Officer T. Lee made the arrest.
Robber steals money from pedestrian
A person walking toward his home in Brandywine was robbed at gunpoint Sept. 12.
The victim was walking when the robber walked up, showed a handgun and demanded money.
The victim handed money over, and the robber ran away. Sheriff's officers went to the 15000 block of Regina Drive at about 1:30 a.m.

Woman charged with assault
A 47-year-old Waldorf woman allegedly used a knife to slash another woman on the face during an argument Sept. 12.
Sheriff's officers responded to the 12900 block of West Hatton Road in Newburg when someone reported an assault at 2:39 a.m., police reported. Gloria Carter had been arguing with a 46-year-old acquaintance when she allegedly took out a knife and cut the victim on her face, police reported. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated for injuries that weren't life-threatening.
Carter was found in the area and arrested, and a knife was discovered in her car, according to police.
She was charged with first-degree assault.

Men charged with burglary, stealing car
Two men were arrested Sept. 11 after an officer saw them running from a Waldorf business, according to police.
At 11:16 p.m., an officer went to Gardiner Equipment at 11740 Vernon Road after an burglar alarm sounded at the business. Officer D. Suave saw the men running from the business toward a nearby parking lot, police reported. The officer apprehended one of the men, Alan Terrell Rhodes, 21, of Upper Marlboro, and found a bolt cutter, according to police. Officer J. Freeman saw the other suspect, Demetri Deangelo Farrell, 21, of Upper Marlboro, walking on Crain Highway. Near the business, officers found a stolen car containing evidence linking the men to the burglary, police reported.
Both men were charged with burglary and auto theft.
Fire ignited inside high school
A small fire was ignited inside a trashcan at Westlake High School in Waldorf on Sept. 15.
A faculty member extinguished the fire in a women's restroom at about 12:50 p.m. No alarms or sprinklers went off because the fire was discovered so soon, according to the state fire marshal's office.
Investigators say the fire was arson and caused about $30 in damage.
Trio charged with painting racial graffiti
Three teens were arrested and charged with destruction of property for allegedly spray-painting hateful messages in Waldorf on Sept. 13.
Sheriff's officers went to the 2400 block of Shawnee Lane at 10:31 p.m. after someone called police to report seeing two girls and a boy spray-painting "KKK" on two cars and a stop sign, police reported. Investigators searched the area and found three people matching the descriptions provided by the witness, as well as evidence linking the youths to the crimes.
The young people, a 13-year-old boy and two 16-year-old girls, all from Waldorf, were charged with multiple counts of destruction of property.
Officer R. Christian made the arrests.
