Boats participate in the second Hospice Challenge, held Aug. 23 and 24 at Solomons on the Patuxent River.ÊThis year’s dinghy sailboat race, hosted by Calvert Hospice, Hospice of St. Mary’s, the Southern Maryland Sailing Foundation, the Rotary International Scholarship Fund and the Southern Maryland Sailing Association, was extended to a full, round-robin, two-day event. Six teams manned three Flying Juniors, supplied by the Southern Maryland Sailing Foundation, each with a skipper and crew for a series of races on Saturday and Sunday. First place was presented to Team Outback, second to Hospice of St. Mary’s Team and third to Zahniser’s Marina Team. Teams were also sponsored by Flag Harbor Yacht Club, So. Md. Sailing Foundation and Carmen’s Gallery and Calvert Marina.
