Ghost and goblins abound this weekend at Halloween in the Garden
Friday, Oct. 23, 2009
Annmarie Garden in Solomons will host Halloween in the Garden from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 24. Community organizations and local businesses will don their costumes; decorate their space and hand out candy and treats down the wooded pathway — free of any vehicles — at Annmarie Garden, to children of all ages. Free ooky, spooky family fun and art activities will be provided. Devilishly delicious treats will also be available. The event benefits the Holiday Food Basket Program with a $1 proceed from each visitor contributing directly to the Holiday Food Basket Program. Parking is free and will be located in the field adjacent to the garden. Dress the whole family and enjoy a day of trick-or-treating, art activities, lunch and more.
This year's event also features the public art project, "Nesting," which explored the comforts of home as visitors painted an "egg" to contribute to one of several large nests along the wooded path. View the creations that celebrate their favorite things about home, and contribute their art to the ever-growing masterpiece. The completed sculptural installation will remain on view through the event. Halloween in the Garden is sponsored by Dominion Cove Point LNG, Solomons Town Centre, Brothers Johnson, Gateau Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine, Jan Kleponis/ O'Brien Realty and World Gym.
