The St. Mary's County Community Health Fair will be held Friday, Oct. 30, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department. Seasonal flu vaccine doses will be available. The vaccines will be administered to those 60 and older; those who are pregnant; and those who have a chronic disease.
Chronic diseases include insulin dependent diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, asthma and those who are asplenic (without a spleen). Medicare card holders must bring their cards; a $15 suggested donation will be accepted otherwise.
More than 600 citizens attended the event last year to learn more about the latest health and wellness news and products from more than 50 exhibitors. Free health screenings will include screenings for skin cancer, podiatry, depression, vision (afternoon) and hearing.
