Sheriff's office reminds residents to secure locks

Friday, Nov. 6, 2009

The Calvert County Sheriff's Office is urgently reminding residents to lock all of the doors and windows of their homes and vehicles.

A press release from the sheriff's office said residents should also secure their keys and put technical devices such as iPods, GPS systems, cameras and cell phones out of sight. Doing these things, which take only minutes each day, can help prevent unwanted theft and damage to personal property. This reminder comes after a recent rash of thefts from vehicles in the Prince Frederick and Huntingtown areas in which almost every vehicle had been left unlocked. Additionally, a vehicle was stolen after being left unlocked with the keys inside.

Anyone who sees suspicious activity is asked to contact the Sheriff's Office immediately at 410-535-2800.
