James Henry "Jim" Neugent III, 65, of Lexington Park died Nov. 14, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital.
Born Oct. 22, 1944, in Washington, D.C., he was the son of the late James H. Neugent Jr. and Josephine T. Neugent.
He served in the U.S. Navy from September 1962 to February 1985, retiring at the rank of master chief. After retiring from active duty, he worked for the U.S. Department of Defense as a reliability and maintainability engineer. In his spare time, he loved to fish and was a former Optimist.
He is survived by his wife, Lucia A. Neugent of Lexington Park; three children, James H. Neugent IV and his wife, Julie, of Leonardtown, Lucy A. Wise and her husband, Brett, of Fayetteville, N.C., and Michael F. Neugent of Lexington Park; four grandchildren, Rachel Neugent, Steven Neugent, Erika Wise and Nicole Wise; and one brother, Wayne Neugent of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Bill Neugent.
The family received friends and a funeral service was held Nov. 17 at Brinsfield Funeral Home in Leonardtown. The Rev. Joseph Dobson officiated. Interment was private.
