Virginia Keown Pruett, 85, Pomfret

Virginia Keown Pruett, 85, of Pomfret died Nov. 18, 2009, at Charles County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, La Plata.

She was a homemaker. She liked to sew and cook and loved her grandchildren.

Born Dec. 10, 1923, in Chattanooga, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late Marshall Keown and the late Minnie Adams Keown.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Glenn Pruett Jr.; three brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her son, Harry Glenn Pruett III; daughters, Mary Kay George and Glenda Smith; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. She will be buried next to her husband at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Arrangements are being handled by Arehart-Echols Funeral Home, La Plata.
