Toys being collected for Toys for Tots

The Calvert County Sheriff's Office is participating in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots, a program that brings a new toy to needy children throughout Calvert County. The sheriff's office lobby will be a drop off location for the new and unwrapped toys. The toys will be collected until Dec. 18. Help make a child's Christmas a little more special and bring a new, unwrapped toy to the sheriff's office lobby. Generosity is sincerely appreciated. For more information, contact Dfc. Michael Naecker at 410-535-2800 or naeckermp@co.cal.md.us.

Warrants served at Ches. Beach apartments

On Nov. 13 at 7:55 a.m., five search and seizure warrants were executed within the Courtyards of Fishing Creek, located on Gordon Stinnett Avenue in Chesapeake Beach, after a two-month drug investigation. The warrants were the product of an investigation that identified a drug organization operating within the development, according to a sheriff's office press release. No arrests have been made to date. The investigation is ongoing.

A joint task force of members of the Calvert County Sheriff's Office Drug Enforcement Unit with support from the sheriff's office's Special Operations Team, members of the Charles County Sheriff's Office and the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office, executed the warrants.

In a statement, Chesapeake Beach Mayor Bruce Wahl said, "I am grateful for the investigation and enforcement action taken by the Calvert County Sheriff's [Office] and other law enforcement agencies on Nov. 13. The goal of my administration is to make Chesapeake Beach a safe environment for all citizens, and to that end, I fully support the sheriff's [office's] efforts to arrest and convict those individuals who choose to engage in the sale of illegal drugs in the Town of Chesapeake Beach."
