North Beach's snowman stolen
Sometime between Saturday night, Dec. 5, and early Sunday morning, someone stole a large snowman and bear from the Town of North Beach's flower beds along Bay Avenue.
Over the past few weeks, Abigail Francisco and her students at Abigail Francisco School of Classical Ballet in North Beach and their parents spent hours getting the town's holiday lights and decorations ready for Christmas, a town e-mail stated.
Anyone who saw someone take them or has any information on whom the perpetrators might be is urged to contact Sgt. Buckmaster at the Calvert County Sheriff's Office at 410-535-2800; or North Beach Town Hall at 301-855-6681 or 410-257-9618.
Power outage due to accident
Early in the morning of Dec. 2, 175 Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative customers on Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick lost power due to an accident when a car left the roadway and hit a utility pole, said company spokesman Tom Dennison. SMECO rerouted the power and most of its customers regained power with in an hour, he said, however a few close to the pole involved in the accident "were out a bit more," he said.

Flag pole vandalized
Someone damaged an aluminum flagpole near a home on G Street in the early morning hours of Dec. 3. Dfc. Jeff Elliott is handling the investigation.
Huntingtown
Cash stolen from vehicle
Cash, totaling $20, was stolen from an unlocked vehicle while it was parked outside a home on Radcliffe Drive between Nov. 27 and 28. Deputy Andrew Mitchell is investigating.
Lusby
Purse stolen from vehicle
Someone stole a purse, valued at $50, from a vehicle parked outside a home on Mohican Lane around midnight on Dec. 1. Dfc. Justin Livingston is investigating.
Owings
Golf park vandalized
The owner of Mellomar Golf Park told Deputy Andre Mitchell that someone caused significant damage at the park between 6 p.m. on Dec. 3 and 7:30 a.m. on Dec. 4. The damage is estimated at $745. Anyone with information is asked to contact Mitchell at 410-535-2800.
St. Leonard
Pair charged in burglaries
On Nov. 30 at about 6 p.m., Deputy Stephen Esposito and Dfc. John "Marty" McCarroll responded to a home on Quarles Road in St. Leonard for the report of a burglary. The homeowner said that someone entered the home between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m. that day and stole various prescription medications.
About 30 minutes later, another call of a burglary was received from a neighboring home on Quarles Road. More than $3,000 in jewelry was taken.
After responding to that call, the deputies learned from witnesses that a suspicious vehicle was seen earlier that day near both homes. Deputies saw that vehicle driving in an unsafe manner, accompanied by a second vehicle.
Both vehicles had hazard lights blinking.
The deputies stopped the vehicles at Cove View Drive and Kings Road in St. Leonard and subsequently arrested the drivers.
Jeffrey Thomas Phelps, 20, of Lusby was charged with two counts of burglary, two counts of possession of hydrocodone and other associated charges.
William Robert Ryan Fitch, 19, of St. Leonard was charged with two counts of burglary, possession of oxycodone, possession of hydrocodone, possession of clonazepam and other associated charges.
