Car hits bus

A school bus was involved in an accident Wednesday afternoon on St. Andrew's Church Road near Indian Bridge Road. No students were aboard bus number 99, which transports non-public school children, at the time a car collided with the rear of the bus. Traffic was tied up in both directions along St. Andrew's Church Road.

Burglar steals money from charity

Unknown suspects entered the Patuxent Habitat for Humanity on South Coral Drive in Lexington Park between 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 and 8 a.m. on Dec. 7. Trooper M. J. Pitcher of the Maryland State Police responded and was advised that the only thing that appeared to be missing was approximately $280 in cash and one yellow money bag from Maryland Bank and Trust. The investigation Continues.

Alleged shoplifters caught in act

Trooper R. E. Rezza of the Maryland State Police responded to a 911 call of a theft in progress at the Family Dollar located on Merchants Lane in Leonardtown. Upon arrival, a male employee told him there were two females inside the store who he observed placing items from the store in their handbags.

Rezza detained the suspects, Ariella Alysia Dellacqua, 18, and Ashley LeAnne Rison, 18, both of Mechanicsville, as they allegedly exited the store. Stolen items were allegedly recovered from the suspects' handbags and returned to the store employee.

Both Dellacqua and Rison were issued criminal citations with and released at the scene.

Assault call leads to drug arrest

Cpl. S. Simonds of the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office responded to a home on Circle Drive in Great Mills on Dec. 8 for a report of an assault in progress.

He allegedly found that Pamela Rose Rose, 36, of Great Mills was involved in a verbal dispute with the victim, which escalated into a physical assault when Rose struck the victim in the face, shoulders and neck.

Simonds allegedly also found that Rose was in possession of suspected Oxycodone without a prescription as well as suspected Ecstasy.

Rose was arrested and charged with second degree assault and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.

Police Tips Line open

Maryland State Police in Leonardtown operate a Tips Line at 301-475-2936, inviting anyone with information about a crime that has occurred, or they expect may occur, to anonymously report that information 24 hours a day to authorities.

Citizens may use the same telephone number to report concerns to police that do not involve criminal activity.
